After 10 years together, the Aurora Guitar Ensemble has established itself as one of Australia’s leading chamber groups. The eclectic mix of music on this collection caused us all sorts of headaches when choosing a title. While I wanted to call it ‘The Metamorphosis of Chaotic yet Calm Nordic Lions Singing Lullabies to Thundering Rosy Reiterations of Glacial Silhouettes, the ensemble decided otherwise (luckily). So, ‘Sunday Sessions’ it is! These sessions from early 2016 exhibit the vibrant versatility of this wonderful group of classical guitarists - all works demand superb playing skills, dedication and musical passion. These are players I am proud to call my dear friends, and it’s truly a privilege to be their Music Director. ‘Sunday’ literally means ‘Day of the Sun’, and the light this ensemble brings to my life is immeasurable. By the way, we recorded in a rural area, so if you hear the occasional birdsong or evening crickets… (Paul Svoboda).
